CUBASE ARTIST 6.5 PRO
At this point the only real benefit of owning Halion with Cubase Pro is for multi timbral instruments. Like an example would be to include Halion in the Pro version & sampler tracks in the basic version. If they maybe stripped it back to a flap ship version & an entry level version, they could really start to innovate and make much bigger leaps wiry each major release. You’ve got Cubase LE, AI, Elements, Artist & Pro. Last time I upgraded from 6.5 to 10.5 because it was cheap but the workflow has gotten worse for me to the point where I possibly will end up with either Logic or Bitwig.I feel a lot of what is holding cubase back really, is Steinberg’s insistence on there being 5 different versions. I just wish they’d concentrate on workflow, taking s leaf from more modern DAWs, than keep adding FX or instruments that most of us will have already bought elsewhere to fill years long voids in Cubase features If I waited til cubase 11 for a sampler, I’d only just be getting started learning now. With no roadmap or feedback about what they are working on. It’s almost like steinberg think we are all sitting around waiting for the next update, to be able to use the new audio advancements that come with these 3rd party tools.
CUBASE ARTIST 6.5 UPDATE
God knows how long I owned Kontakt & Halion before they added native sampling, and it wasn’t until the 11 update that the sampler tracks were even useful for anything deeper than basic chromatic sample playback. I updated Pro Q for the spectrum comparison between instances & then they added that functionality to the channel EQ. I bought LFOtool to make sidechaining easier, then they updated native sidechaining. Last time I upgraded from 6.5 to 10.5 because it was cheap but the workflow has gotten worse for me to the point where I possibly will end up with either Logic or Bitwig. The workflow has improved gradually for my needs, but it took so long for steinberg to implement a lot of them, that I already had 3rd party tools to get the job done.įor example. Last time I upgraded from 6.5 to 10.5 because it was cheap but the workflow has gotten worse for me to the point where I possibly will end up with either Logic or Bitwig.Īgree to all of these. you said it already but I´m gonna repeat it because for me this would be a gamechanger: modulation options for all parameters, especially an envelope follower for modulation of any parameter in the project
an updated GUI with optimized space / a GUI which uses the given space in a more efficient manner (there´s a lot of space wasted within Cubase i think) a mixer window with send and inserts included which doesn´t take up all of the monitor (like in Cubase 6.5 for example, I miss this mixer) having a track inspector with insert and send slots open at any time and not having to manually click on the respective button scrolling in the mixer window (from whatever position the cursor is at) Then if they still aren’t added by v12 I’ll have saved roughly half the price of buying a new DAW that is suitable for my needs, from a developer that doesn’t consistently ignore feature requests to add stuff nobody needs.Agree to all of these. Unless any of the above are added in 11.5 I’ll probably pass. Cubase is getting left in the dust when it comes to electronic workflows. If these haven’t been implemented by C12 I’m out & buying Bitwig studio.
Then if they still aren’t added by v12 I’ll have saved roughly half the price of buying a new DAW that is suitable for my needs, from a developer that doesn’t consistently ignore feature requests to add stuff nobody needs. Still no options for any form of FM synthesis in Cubase or Halion, which I have covered elsewhere, but it’s a pretty glaring oversight on Steinberg’s part.
No doubt we’ll get ignored as always & they’ll add a bunch of new native FX, nobody with a good selection of 3rd party VSTs needs. These are the kind of improvements Cubase sorely needs to stay relevant in electronic music circles. Updated midi inserts (wouldn’t be as necessary if they added native LFOs & envs that can be assigned to anything in a project) Multi assignable macros to replace quick controls. Changing folder tracks to be group tracks (or group tracks to act like a folder for all tracks routed to said group). Channel crossovers for multiband processing (also present in Bitwig & much easier to do in Ableton than cubase). For those of you who don't know the product already, Art Conductor is a vast collection of Cubase Expression Maps / Logic Articulation Sets supporting all sorts of orchestral libraries.Hopefully some updated native modulation options, like are present in modern DAWs like Ableton & Bitwig.
